Cape Cod National

Project Notes

Once Cape Cod National Golf Club founder John Pfeffer acquired an additional 69 acres of land beside the 85-acre tract that he already owned, there was no stopping him. Four years later, in 1998, the course opened for play as a private 18-holer with additional access granted to guests of the neighboring Wequasset Inn.

Neatly laid out on just xxx of those acres, the routing here rivals the aesthetics and stirring shot values. Not without effort and intention, however. Silva moved three quarters of a million tons of dirt creating a golf course that lays comfortably on dramatic terrain — and looks as though it was built in the 1930s. CCN’s fescue-friendly presentation also effectively predates trendy 21st century aesthetics, which have risen to the level of fetishization.

What They’re Saying

Tee times for Wequasset patrons has exposed CC National to a wider audience than many private clubs. When Golfweek released its top 200 resort golf courses in 2025, it ranked no. 74. Since 1998, it has appeared on dozens of such lists.

Twice since it opened for play, Golf Digest has ranked CC National among the top 10 courses in Massachusetts. Quite a feat — in a state with such a deep roster of golden age elites.
