Project Notes
It took a full decade for this club to pull the trigger on a full-on transformation of its Golden Age golf course. First Brian Silva created a popular short course. Then a stunning, entirely new par-3. But not until he reimagined the par-4 12th — clearing trees across a ravine, inviting players to bite off yardage in the Cape style — did the membership authorize his entire master plan. The work was completed entirely in the fall of 2022.
“For years Brookside was known as a very tight course with trees,” Silva says. “Removal of some 200 trees did create wider corridors, but rebunkering those corridors made the difference. Today the fairways strategically twist and turn their way from tee to green, around the new bunkers, creating risk/reward alternatives and play-defining angles. We even identified the setting for a Principal’s Nose on 16 (see above), creating ‘multiple’ landing areas on this par-5.”
